Visit to London Science Museum Reserve Collection

The SOT has arranged a visit to the London Science Museum Reserve Collection at Blythe House to see the fabulous collection of ornamental turning equipment. This symposium will feature rose engine demonstrations and lectures as well as trade show booths featuring ornamental turning equipment. A video on the Kämpf Geometric Lathe, a type of Rose-Engine which produces all the geometric patterns you see on banknotes, will be shown. Society of Ornamental Turners Annual Seminar
October 17-18, 2009 – Bedfordshire

This seminar will cover all the basics and more, including basket-work, the use of the ornamental chucks and simple cutting frames, introduction to rose-work and engine turning, and tool sharpening. There will be places for 12 students who will have a very "hands-on" experience under guidance of instructors using a range of different ornamental turning machines. Society of Ornamental Turners Annual General Meeting
November 7, 2009 – Uxbridge Masonic Centre

The annual general meeting of the Society of Ornamental Turners is always a friendly and enjoyable gathering with usually more than 100 members attending from the UK and overseas. It is the time to have a say in the way the Society is run and also traditionally has the biggest and best auction of the year. In addition to the formal business meeting, it includes a lecture, competition awards, and auction. SOT membership required. Join the SOT
